Hello! My name is Angela Smith, and I write romance stories in an effort to solve love’s mystery! Hah! As if that’s a mystery to ever be solved!

I’m a Texas native who, years ago, was dubbed most likely to write a novel during my senior year in high school. I always had my nose stuck in a book, even hiding them behind my textbooks during school study time. My dream began at a young age when my sister started reciting ‘Brer Rabbit’ after Mom read it to us so often. I told my mom I’d write a story one day, and I never gave up on that dream even though she was never able to see it come to fruition. Although life in general keeps me very busy, my passion for getting stories out of my head tends to make me restless if I’m not following what some people call my destiny.

I mainly write romantic suspense, but you can also find me dabbling in contemporary or sweet romance. I work full time as a paralegal and office manager for a District Attorney and in my spare time, I’m often caring for animals, my garden, or my land. I live on acreage in a rural area, which I absolutely love. I’ve been married for twenty-five years now to the man who still helps inspire my love of romance.

I grew up on the wings of the best romantic stories ever, reading Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Jennifer Blake, and Cassie Edwards, to name a few. And then the movies. Oh, the movies! Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Dirty Dancing, and Top Gun! To this day, I could watch those movies over and over again.

I wrote my first story at nine years old, by rewriting the movie Girls Just Want to Have Fun (the movie, not the song). I'm sure it was terrible, but it was fun, and I've never forgotten the thrill. I also give credit to an awesome English teacher for instilling my love of writing, among my mom, grandmother, and aunt for swapping books since I was probably too young to read romance!.

And then the music. I Want to Know What Love Is, Take it on the Run, and How Do I Know When It’s Love?

With those types of themes, how could I not love romance?

I was lucky to fall into a romantic story of my own at a pretty young age, when everyone I knew bet on me and my husband not lasting a year. Twenty-five some odd years later (of marriage, more if you count the dating stage) and I’d say we are still going strong!

My mom died when I was fifteen years old. By then, I knew I wanted to write. My mom wanted to write, too, but never got that opportunity. I will never forget the year of my graduation, when I was trying to decide what to do with the rest of my life, and I checked out a book on writing at our school library. This was when book cards still existed, and nothing was digital. My mom had signed that card! She had checked out that same book! If that wasn’t a sign, I dont know what is! It took me a while to follow my calling, and my life has diverted quite a bit with my job now and all, but I never game up on my dream (even though I’ve been tempted many times!)
